The Physiotherapy Innovation Laboratory is a research group based within the Department of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation at University of Northumbria at Newcastle

Our research involves a translational multidisciplinary approach to understand human movement and develop novel clinical assessment and rehabilitation tools

We work across a variety of clinical research areas, specifically; 

  • Mechanistic understanding of how the brain controls movement

  • Age-related and neurological disorders

  • Digital health and novel technology for clinical assessment and rehabilitation

Dr Sam Stuart presents Keynote at Clinical Movement Analysis Society Conference 2021

Laboratory Director, Dr Stuart, will present on his work on Mobile Brain / Mody imaging in Parkinson's disease. Presenting results on clinical assessment and rehabilitation evaluation with fNIRS and EEG, coupled with inertial measurement units.
